Swordfish

Another amazing and elusive species targeted by the Mexican Gulf Fishing Company is swordfish. These are night trips and require special arrangements. Fishing for swords is much different in the Gulf Coast than fishing for them in south Florida, where boats simply line up on a shelf five miles out, then drift with the currents.

Swordfishing in Louisiana is a relatively new sport, and we generally run 40 to 60 miles offshore to closely guarded areas we’ve discovered and marked on our GPS units. After finding a structure-infested area, we drift with currents and place live bait and giant squid at various depths between 150 and 600 feet.

This is a specialty trip, and clients really need to know what to expect. For more information about booking a swordfish trip, please give us a call.

With all of the species in our area to choose from, it might be difficult to choose just one. Give us a call, let us know what time of the year you’d like to fish, and we’ll customize the offshore trip of a lifetime.
